Words of wisdom and tools for success

Posted By cynthia on April 7, 2009

You hear it in the news, read it in the papers and magazines, it’s forwarded through email correspondence, posted in Social Media networks, talked about by family, friends, co-workers and total strangers from every walk of life and industry. This dark cloud of fear, insecurity and negativity is all around us. Indeed, our economy is a huge burden causing debilitating effects for many and at the same time it presents great opportunity for others.

This is truly the time for individuals and businesses that are financially secure to significantly magnify their wealth. Whether it is done through real estate investments, business acquisitions, all can be amassed for pennies on the dollar. Individuals and businesses that struggle or simply just need to be cautious, it’s all touch and go, inch by inch doing whatever needs to be done to survive the tempest.

Then there are those who rode the wave of what disguised itself to be an opportunity to grow their business and to improve their lifestyles to live the American Dream who are now faced with financial devastation. Many will survive through damage control, doing away with less and through creative survival measures. Sadly enough, many will experience an uncontrollable devastation that could lead to helplessness, depression, extreme fear, anxiety and as we can already see heinous acts of violence and crime.

Self defeating thoughts and behavior is dangerous. Having the right inspirational tools in our tool box can make a world of difference on how we see and cope with our reality. While a motivational push will not pay our bills or put food on the table it will allow us to open up to change and be receptive to opportunity. After all, it is how we react to what is happening that will enable us to rise to our success or fall to our defeat.

Even for those of us who have a deep rooted knowing that somehow everything is going to be ok, we can all arm ourselves with the tools that evoke the inspiration within to keep us moving forward.

Here are some suggestions that can make a difference in your life:

  1. Pick up an audio or video series by a well known motivational icon. Anthony Robbins has an amazing collection for $14.95. This small investment will make a life long difference.
  2. Make the time to read, listen to or view strictly motivational works. Pluck yourself away from negative noise. You will feel refreshed and ready to carry on.
  3. Select a mantra/s that resonate with you. Jot them down and refer to these when you find yourself needing a little inspiration.
  4. If you find that your attitude becomes unbearable, step back, find a quiet place where you can take a deep breath, relax, realize that you behavior is only hurting you and those around you. You control your reactions. Seek the right tools that will inspire change within you.

I have listed below a few words of wisdom from some of my favorite motivational role models. The common philosophy shared by many motivational speakers are based on creating change by vividly visualizing what we want our future to be, imagining the end result to helps us generate the inspiration, enthusiasm and power towards achieving our goal. Their teachings present us with tools that empower us to change our emotional state by how we react to our perceived reality, interrupting our limiting patterns and gaining the confidence and belief in ourselves to break through our self imposed barriers.

I hope the following words of wisdom inspire within you a sense of peace, well-being and the realization that only you have the power to control and guide your life, your future.

Words of wisdom by Anthony Robbins:

  • Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.
  • The path to success is to take massive, determined action.
  • Nothing has any power over me other than that which I give it through my conscious thoughts.
  • Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision.
  • Things do not have meaning. We assign meaning to everything.
  • Determination is the wake-up call to human will.
  • It’s our decisions, not the conditions of our lives, that determine our destiny.
  • If we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.

Words of wisdom by Napoleon Hill

  • There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge.
  • Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.
  • Reduce your plan to writing. The moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire.
  • Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.
  • A goal is a dream with a deadline.
  • Most great people have attained success just one step beyond their greatest failure.
  • Remember that nothing can bring you success but yourself.
  • Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.
  • No man ever achieved worth-while success who did not, at one time or another, find himself with at least one foot hanging well over the brink of failure.
  • The world has a habit of making room for the man whose actions show that he knows where he is going.
  • There is one quality which one must posses to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it.
  • All the breaks you need in life wait within your imagination, imagination is the workshop of your mind, capable of turning mind energy into accomplishment and wealth.
  • Hold a picture of yourself long and steadily enough in your mind’s eye, and you will be drawn toward it.

Words of wisdom by Dr. Dennis Waitley

  • There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
  • You must stick to your convictions but be ready to abandon your assumptions.
  • I had the blues because I had no shoes until upon the street I met a man who had no feet.
  • Our limitations and success will be based, most often, on your own expectations for ourselves. What the mind dwells upon, the body acts upon.
  • Where there is life, there is hope. Where there are hopes there are dreams.
  • The only limits to my accomplishments in life are self imposed.
  • Change YOUR world and you can change THE world.

Words of wisdom by Steven Covey

  • If we want to change a situation, we first have to change ourselves. And to change ourselves effectively, we first have to change our perceptions.
  • We simply assume that the way we see things is the way they really are or the way they should be. And our attitudes and behaviors grow out of those assumptions.
  • Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character and produce our effectiveness…or ineffectiveness.
  • Dependent people need others to get what they want. Independent people can get what they want through their own effort. Interdependent people combine their own efforts with the efforts of others to achieve their greatest success.
  • Change – real change – comes from the inside out. It doesn’t come from hacking at the leaves of attitude and behavior with quick fix personality ethic techniques. It comes from striking at the root – the fabric or our thoughts, the fundamental, essential paradigms, which give definition to our character and create the lens through which we see the world.
  • You can decide within yourself how circumstances will affect you. Between what happens to you, or the stimulus, and your response to it, is your freedom or power to choose that response.
  • The way we see the problem is the problem.

I hope you enjoyed this collection. Feel free to add words of wisdom that have inspired you in your personal life, career and/or business growth.

It’s time to regroup!

Posted By cynthia on April 1, 2009

What should you do when business is down…take the time to regroup, refocus and work on a plan. The reality doesn’t change that in spite of all the gloom and doom in our economy there is OPPORTUNITY.

There are marketing, advertising and press-release deals out there that you can secure for amounts that haven’t been available in a long time. Right now, companies who normally cannot afford to take advantage of traditional media exposure have the opportunity to do so today. For those who simply cannot swing the budget then it’s time to regroup.

If you are experiencing a setback and business is slow take this time to refresh your business strategy. Take a good look at your business and ask yourself:

  1. What has worked for you in the past?
  2. What has been a financial drain?
  3. What new opportunities are out there?
  4. Who are your A list customers? and,
  5. Where can you find more of them?

Here are some suggestions of what your plan should include:

  • a 12-month action list to get new business
  • build a social network that fits your plans
  • increase link popularity
  • build into your plan giving out free advice
  • plan at least two well balanced marketing campaigns (traditional and digital media)

Be as descriptive as you can be in your plan. The 12-month action list can be in the form of a calendar. You can create themes based on the holidays, trends or industry cycles. Have fun building your marketing strategy. Consider your budget and select your action list accordingly.
